Born August 23, 1988 in Palo Alto, California. The 6'3" Lin is the son of two 5'6" Chinese born citizens. Making Lin the first Chinese-American born player to appear in the NBA.
After H.S. Lin was not offered any scholarships, from any college to play basketball. After attending Harvard and getting his degree, he went undrafted in the 2010 NBA draft. He then signed with his hometown G.S. Warriors, but didnt get any playing time. After a stint in the NBA D-League he was signed by the New York Knicks.
Which leads us to today. Lin made his first career start for the New York Knicks this evening, and made a very good impression. Leading the Knicks to a 99-88 win over the Utah Jazz. In a game where A'mare didnt play and Carmelo left very early on due to a groin injury,Lin carried the Knicks with 28 points, 8 assists, 2 steals and 2 rebounds.
Lin is a great example of someone who never gave up, and kept going hard, dispite being over looked numerous times. Only time will tell if Lin can be a valid starter in the NBA, but at least the Knicks know he's a lot more than a roster spot now.
